Short Term Consultants (STC) to provide technical assistance to staff in writing abstracts and journal publications

Roles and responsibilities:

1.Review existing abstracts, and work with program staff to write abstracts on program areas where there are none.

2.Work with staff on literature search, literature review and set-up bibliography.

3.Examine existing data on its usability for abstract and manuscript writing.

4.Define possible pathways for data analysis and manuscript writing

a. Work with program staff to define an analysis plan including developing dummy tables

b. Define manuscript structure/outline

5.Work with program staff to generate tables and charts, and build their capacity to interpret findings.

6.Mentor program staff to understand the structure and components of a peer review publication

7.Conduct review meetings to critique work in progress to enhance the quality of manuscripts.

Skill set:

•Track record of successful publications in peer reviewed journals.

•Past experience in reviewing manuscripts submitted for publication in public health journal.

•Past experience in capacity building on manuscript writing.

• Strong background in social science, medicine, public health or any relevant degree in public health or related field.

•Minimum of 5 years experience in a managerial position in public health programs.

•Ability to mentor and support adult learners.

•Strong writing skills in English.

•Willingness to work in Sokoto and Bauchi states.

•Willingness to travel.

Work experience: 7 years
