Vincent Enyeama calls for better tact

Assistant captain of the Nigeria national team, Vincent Enyeama has added his voice to the row involving captain, Joseph Yobo and head coach, Stephen Keshi.

Yobo, 32 was excluded from the Nigeria squad for last month's 2014 Fifa World Cup qualifier against Kenya and he promptly registered his displeasure in an interview with Brila FM.

"We spoke just right after winning the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations and since then we have not spoken and no one has got in touch with me since then and I feel that as the captain of the national team, I should have been informed.

"I am disappointed and disrespected because the coach should have called me considering my status in the team," Yobo said.

Keshi denied disrespecting the player explaining that, "I like the hunger Joseph is showing with regards of wanting to play for the team at every given time. But I believe that we cannot play all of our players in every game. For instance, this year we have quite a number of games and Joseph still remains the team's captain. We talked about this in South Africa during the Nations Cup and I explained to him that he's still very much in my team as the captain in spite of playing from the bench," Keshi said.

Enyeama has now voiced his sentiments on the issue.

The Maccabi Tel Aviv goalkeeper believes that Yobo remains the leader of the national team and predicts that he will be back in no time to the team because of his wealth of experience.

"We have to be careful in how we handle senior players of the national team, because we need their experience, leadership and above all they serve as motivation to the younger players.
.
"That is why Yobo is still important and the technical crew knows so. If we treat them well the level of commitment of both the old and the new players will be total but if we do otherwise we will have problems on and off the pitch," said Enyeama.

Yobo is the most capped player Nigeria has ever produced. The Fenerbahce defender has made 95 appearances for the national team.

Vincent Enyeama is very right. The whole Yobo issue is getting Nigerians attention. Yobo is right, Keshi is wrong
