Ogun State - Ogun takes steps to enhance living standard in Ode Omi

 In fulfillment of its promise to ensure even development of all parts of the State, the Ogun State Government has started providing infrastructural facilities to give a new lease of life to residents of Ode-Omi in Ogun Waterside Local Government Area of the State.

Ode Omi is a border town between Ogun and Lagos States and the facilities provided include electrification, water and road construction projects.  Speaking on the development, Commissioner for Rural Development whose Ministry was implementing the project, Hon. Falilu Sabitu disclosed that the electrification project include both high and low tension spanning 3.55 and 1.5 kilometer respectively, adding that two 500 KVA transformers had equally been provided to link the community to the national grid .     Sabitu disclosed that his Ministry had also sunk two solar-powered boreholes and complemented them with overhead tanks at two different locations within the community to provide potable water to residents.     On road project, the Commissioner explained that the 3.3 kilometer Lorukan road was being graded and provided with twin box culvert and a bridge to aid transportation of goods and farm produce, saying that all these measures were pointers to determination of the Senator Amosun-led administration to make living more abundant and reduce rural-urban drift.     “Posterity will not judge us right if we do not use this opportunity to develop the rural areas because it is one of the five cardinal programmes of this administration” the Commissioner stated.  On the level of completion, he revealed that while the electrification and water projects were nearing completion, work on the road had been slowed down a bit by the rains, but reiterated that government was committed to completing it, this notwithstanding.  In a reaction, the Lenuwa of Ode-Omi, Oba Adenuga Okunnuga expressed gratitude to the State Government, adding that his people had never witnessed such a magnitude of developmental projects in one fell swoop.     Oba Okunnuga however pleaded that government should expedite action on the road project and not allow the rains to affect the tempo of work being done on it.     Speaking in the same vein, Chairman, Ode-Omi Community Development Association, Evangelist Yesiri Otudeko commended government for fulfilling its promise on provision of facilities, pointing out that his people would be eternally grateful for the gesture.
