Ogun State - Forum of Deputy Governors mourns demise of colleague

The Forum of Deputy Governors in Nigeria has described one of them, the late Deputy Govenor of Ekiti State, Mrs. Funmilayo Olayinka as a strong, courageous and hard-working woman who contributed her quota to the socio-economic development of the State.

The Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Mrs. Adejoke Orelope Adefulire, who spoke on behalf of the Forum during a condolence visit to the Ekiti State Governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi in Ado-Ekiti, said the late Mrs. Olayinka worked in unity with the Governor to transform the State.

Accompanied by her counterpart from Ogun State, Prince Segun Adesegun, Mrs. Adefulire said they were in the State to commiserate with the government and people of Ekiti for the great loss. The forum equally lauded Governor Fayemi for giving their late colleague the best medical attention she could possibly get and standing by her and the family throughout the trying period.

Adefulire said though members of the Forum would miss her companionship and advice, she however added that would be consoled by her comradeship and the fact that she was a good ambassador of the Forum in Ekiti State, appealing to the government and the people to see her death as the wish of God.

Responding, Governor Fayemi eulogised his late Deputy for the selfless services she rendered to the people despite her health condition, saying she displayed uncommon courage and grace even in pain and called on the people to always give thanks to God no matter the situation.

He thanked the Forum for their support love and solidarity, urging them to continue to work towards strengthening the bond of friendship, peace and co-operation among the people for the socio-economic development of the nation.

The two Deputy Governors also visited parents of the late Deputy Governor to commiserate with them over the loss.

Mrs. Funmilayo Olayinka passed on last Saturday at 52.
