Job Title: Research Supervisor (AfricaRice) 2-year renewable contract

Location: Ibadan, Nigeria

Organisation: International Institute of Tropical Agriculture – IITA

The International Institute of Tropical Agriculture seeks suitable candidate for the position of Research Supervisor at the Institute's Headquarters in Ibadan.

Duties:

Successful candidate will:

•   Characterize rice germplasm for tolerance to several stresses

•   Establish and manage lowland rice breeding trials

•   Inter and intra specific hybridization of rice to generate stress tolerant segregating population

•   Collect, collate and analyze research data

•   Collect leaf samples for DNA extraction

•   Processing and distribution of seed of breeding lines to NARS and other collaborators

•   General supervision of field Staff

•   Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor

Qualification and Experience: BSc/HND in Crop Management, Agronomy or General Agriculture plus at least 3 years experience of research operation in a research Institution will be an added advantage.

The ideal candidate must:

•   Be proficient with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word and Power Point)

•   Have good command of English language

•   Have the ability to work with minimal supervision

•   Have the ability to work in a multi- cultural, multi ethnic and religious environment

•   Have the ability to multitask and work effectively within strict deadlines.
