censusThe National Population Commission (NPC) on Thursday said that the next national census scheduled for 2016 may not hold if issues of professional delineation of enumeration areas and geo-referenced digital maps of the two hundred thousand localities in Nigeria are not provided. Speaking in Abuja while playing host to the Director General of the International Organization of Migration, the Chairman of the commission, Eze Festus Odimegwu said the issue of population census in Nigeria has always been a contentious one. He stressed the need for effective tracking, recording and inputting of migration data that will form part of the nation's vital registration infrastructure to ensure real time accuracy and data sustainability. Director General of the International Organization on Migration, Ambassador William Swing however advised the commission to address issues of migration in order to produce an accurate population census.
