Obi Urges Farmers To Become Vegetable Exporters

The Anambra state governor, Mr. Peter Obi has urged vegetable exporters under FADAMA 3 Project to work hard so that they can become exporters of vegetables. At the official distribution ceremony of farm implements and inputs to vegetable growers under FADAMA 3 Project, the governor stated that the gesture was in a bid to boost the level of vegetable production and minerals intake in the state. Addressing the beneficiaries, Obi urged the farmers to work and see the state get to the next level of being among vegetable exporters. He pledged total commitment to the FADAMA Project while maintaining that funding will not be a problem. Nutritionists say adequate intake of vegetable is good for the health and giving encouragement to vegetable growers would not be a bad idea. The beneficiaries are vegetable farmers drawn from six local government areas who are involved in both dry and rainy season farming in the state. Speaking during the ceremony, the State Project Coordinator of FADAMA 3 Project, Evelyn Odiari commended the state governor for his support to the project which if continued will help Anambra to regain its pride of place in the FADAMA states across the country. The state commissioner for Agriculture stated that the government will not relent in supporting the project but warned the beneficiaries that misuse of the farm implements and input would be viewed seriously.
