NGGTour: Construction of roads tops my agenda for Kebbi- Gov. Dakingari

                        Governor Sa'idu Dakingari of Kebbi State has justified his administration's decision to prioritize the development of road infrastructure in the State saying the growth of all other sectors and infrastructure are dependent on the accessibility of good road networks.

Speaking during inspection of projects as the National Good Governance Tour continues across the State, Governor Dakingari said "We regard road network as a critical infrastructure. Critical in the sense that you can never move persons, goods and services without road networks.

"If you are trying to develop an agrarian economy, there is no way you will not have road infrastructure.

"For the health services you must have road network, for education you must have road network for good supervision. And this is why roads in Kebbi State have become the starting point", the Governor maintained.

He said some of the roads in the state are so critical that in particular cases they determine maternal and child mortality rates.

A careful glance at the itinerary prepared by the State Government for the NGGTour of Kebbi reveals that over 41 road projects are scheduled for inspection.

Meanwhile, the Governor disclosed that in every local government in the state his administration has also built 2 to 3 clinics. "There are some with 3 and some with 2 hospitals", Governor Dakingari informed stating that Kowasegu for instance has 3 General Hospitals.

Members of the National Good Governance Tour inspected a section of the Fakai Bajida Road. There, the Kebbi State Commissioner for Works, Mohammed Tuga who briefed the team said the road was constructed by the Local Government of the area in partnership with the State Government which he said is funding the construction of a large bridge along the road. "It is the bridge that provides the link up to Zuru", Tuga stated.

He said the road spans 25 kilometers and was awarded at a contract sum of 578 million naira.
