Kenya's most decorated player McDonald Mariga has begun training again after a protracted thigh injury sustained while playing for his club Parma in the Italian Serie A in February.
.
The 26-year-old, who won the European treble with Jose Mourinho's Inter Milan in the 2009-10 session, is currently undergoing individual training drills at Parma, according to a statement by the club.
.
If his recovery goes well the injury-plagued midfield star will be expected to face Nigeria in their crunch World Cup qualifier on June 05 in Nairobi after missing the 1:1 draw between both sides in Calabar last month.
.
Mariga is arguably Kenya's best player, and alongside younger brother Victor Wanyama of Celtic, they form a redoubtable midfield partnership in the Harambee Stars.
.
The qualifier is a must-win tie for both teams. The Nigerians need the points to maintain their lead atop the group, while for Kenya it is a last chance to get their campaign back on track.

I can boast of Super Eagles beating this guys again because of what happened in the first leg. Kenya are no longer underdogs
