Sunday Mba's Future Still Misty

There is no solution in sight concerning the club future of Africa Cup of Nations hero, Sunday Mba, after the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) ordered any interested club to negotiate with Warri Wolves.

President of the federation, Aminu Maigari, declared on Friday that Mba and Chigozie Agbim are contracted to Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) club, Warri Wolves.

Maigari also expressed disappointment that Enugu Rangers and Wolves, who have been in dispute over Mba and Agbim, could not reach an agreement.

The NFF boss has now told Rangers and any other club interested in Mba or Agbim to negotiate with Warri Wolves.

"The NFF made it clear in a press statement before the end of last month that its adhoc committee on the matter had decided that the player has his contractual obligations to Warri Wolves, and told both clubs to decide a transfer fee for the player. Unfortunately, both clubs have not been able to do so.

"This is also to declare that goalkeeper Chigozie Agbim is, legitimately, a Warri Wolves' player. Any club in quest of the services of these two players should go and negotiate with Warri Wolves.

"The NFF is very much interested in the career progression of our players and will continue to ensure that nothing jeopardises this progression," said Maigari.

Rangers were already hoping to secure a provisional clearance on Friday to allow Mba to play in the Caf Champions League against Recreativo do Libolo this Sunday but that failed to materialise.

Mba, who scored the winning goal for Nigeria against Burkina Faso in the 2013 Afcon final in South Africa, has been the centre of a transfer tussle between Rangers and Wolves.

The 23-year-old attacking midfielder has also declared his desire of wanting out at Wolves in spite of reportedly having a contract till December 2013.
