Ogun State - Ogun takes step to repeat feat on hajj operations

 Determined to repeat the feat achieved during last year’s pilgrimage, the Ogun State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board is set to organize a five day screening exercise for all intending pilgrims from the State.

In a statement today in Abeokuta, the Executive Secretary of the Board, Alhaji Sofiu Rasheed said the exercise holding between the 6th and 10th of next month at the Board’s headquarters is to enable it scrutinize the intending pilgrims carefully and ensure that their immigration and security documents were up to date.

“This will be a follow up to the success recorded during the 2012 Hajj exercise in which the state was adjudged one of the best in terms of organisation by the National Hajj Commission, and that is the reason we have kick start 2013 operations in earnest. The five-day exercise is to ascertain their eligibility to perform the 2013 Hajj exercise, the first step in the build up process of the 2013 Hajj operation” ,he stated.

Alhaji Rasheed reiterated that the State Government remained committed to providing a first class package for the pilgrims, saying this is one of the reasons why the Board started preparation for this year’s hajj exercise in earnest.

The Executive Secretary therefore urged all intending pilgrims who have paid initial deposits of N400,000 to come to the venue with the original receipts of their payment and travel documents, adding that the exercise would be conducted on a first come, first served basis.
