Nigerian international, Peter Odemwingie got a rare run out for West Bromwich Albion in the club's 0-1 loss to Manchester City in the Barclays English Premier League on Tuesday night.
.
The 31-year old was drafted in after 76 minutes at Eastlands and came close to scoring in the 82nd minute but his effort whistled wide.
.
Five minutes later, Odemwingie was again in the thick of action as he won a free kick at the edge of the City penalty area after a foul by Sisenando Maicon.
.
The direct free kick taken by Billy Jones was however blocked by Joleon Lescott.
.
Odemwingie was again booed by the pockets of WBA fans at the Etihad Stadium as they continued to vent their spleen on the forward after his failed bid to force a move to Queens Park Rangers in January.
.
The West Bromwich Albion manager, Steve Clarke had revealed at the weekend that he changed his mind about fielding Odemwingie in the club's 2-3 home loss to Wigan after he was roundly booed by the fans as he warmed up for the game.
.
It was the Nigerian's first appearance for WBA since March 30.
.
Despite not starting any game for WBA since January, Clarke continues to insist the Nigerian is still fully in his plans.
.
"He is not frozen out. I don't do that to my players.
.
"My relationship with Peter and all the players is good. He has been waiting patiently for his opportunity.
.
"I think that opportunity will probably come between now and the end of the season and he is fired up," he said.
.
However, Odemwingie can now leave WBA if a suitable deal can be reached with another club. The Nigerian still has 12 months left on his current deal.
