Ogun State - Healthcare Delivery: Ogun Receives another batch Of $2m Of Medical Equipment

The Ogun State Government has again taken delivery of another batch of equipment and consumables worth $2m from a United States of America based non-profit organisation, Project Cure. It would be recalled that Project Cure had last month made a similar donation of equipment worth of $.4m.

   The equipment include mammogram, anaesthetic machine, walking frames, dental theatre chairs, incubators, electric beds, orthopaedic chairs among others.Speaking while taking delivery of the equipment, Commissioner for Health, Dr. Olaokun Soyinka disclosed that they would be distributed to State hospitals, General hospitals and Primary Healthcare Centres across the State within the next few weeks.      Soyinka pointed out that the commitment of the State government to providing affordable and accessible healthcare services to the people remained unwavering, explaining that the state-of –the-art equipment would go a long way in achieving the dream.In a related development, the Ministry of Health has been given drugs worth N1m from an indigenous pharmaceutical company, Bond Chemicals Industry. Receiving the drugs, the Commissioner, Dr. Soyinka observed that the involvement of the private sector in healthcare delivery cannot be over-emphasised and urged other stakeholders in the sector to emulate the gesture.     The commissioner called for more support for the government in its quest to standardise healthcare delivery service, assuring that the drugs would be distributed to hospitals across the 20 Local Government Areas in the State.Also speaking, the Director, Pharmaceutical Department in the Ministry, Mrs. Dupe Olurin lauded the donor company, stating that it would help actualize the second point agenda of the Senator Ibikunle Amosun-led administration which is healthcare delivery service and improve the health of the people. Responding, the Area Sales Manager, Bond Chemicals Industry, Mr. Yemi Akinsola assured that his establishment would continue to collaborate with the State Government as it strives to improve its health sector.
