Inspector-General of Police directs AIG in Zone 4 to relocate to Lafia.

                        The Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Diko Abubakar has directed the Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of Zone 4 (Benue, Nasarawa and Plateau State), Mike Zuokumor to relocate to Lafia in a bid to ameliorate the plight of the dependants and family of the fallen Police officers who were killed by supporters of the cult group known as Ombatse in Alakyo village located in the outskirt of Lafia recently.

Similarly, the Force Welfare Officer has been directed to move to Lafia, in order to provide necessary support to the families of the officer who died in the incident.

According to the Inspector-General of Police, the Force Welfare Officer should immediately relocate to Lafia to enable her co-ordinate all welfare – related issues bordering on the families of the late officers, including the payment of all statutory and relevant compensations.

Mohammed Diko Abubakar appealed for patience and  understanding from the families and friends of the  slain officers, particularly relating to the  release of the bodies of the officers.  He promised to release all the corpses as soon as preliminary enquiries are concluded.

In another development, the Minister of Information, Labaran Maku has disassociated himself from a newspaper report which said that the violence did stemmed from an alleged rivalry between him and the State governor, Umaru Tanko Al-makura over the 2015 governorship election.

A statement from the Minister's office has also revealed that the people of Nasarawa State  know the truth behind the unfortunate violent eruption and its perpetrators.

The Minister who commiserated with families of police officers killed during the Alakyo operation, urged security agencies to carry out thorough investigation into the recent carnage in Nasarawa State and bring the perpetrators to justice.

He called on the people of Nasarawa State, particularly the youths to refuse to be used as agents of destruction and to rise up against the increasing wave of violence by militia, mercenaries and cultists in the State.
