IYABO  Obasanjo-Bello, daughter of former President Olusegun Obasanjo, was among many eligible voters who shunned yesterday's Presidential Election in Ogun State.

Obasanjo-Bello, who lost bid to return to the Senate in the on-going general elections, was conspicuously absent as at the time accreditation ended at her ward, Totoro Ward 2 in Abeokuta, where she voted in the National Assembly Election.

A source told The Guardian that she had travelled out of the country as at the time of the election.

The turnout was very low in the state. Many registered voters chose to stay at home unlike last week when they turned up in doves to exercise their rights.

Obasanjo, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Dimeji Bankole, former governor of the state, Chief Segun Osoba and Ogun State's governorship candidate of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), Ibikunle Amosun, cast their votes at their various polling units.

Obasanjo, who gave a victory sign by raising his two fingers after casting his vote explained: "That is a sign of victory and this is time for victory. I believe today will be a day of victory for all Nigerians because once we have an election to elect the President and we go about it peacefully and at the end of it the candidate emerges, it is victory for all Nigerians."

The former President continued: "I think from what I have heard, from what was going on in the television which I confirmed when I talked to some people on the field within and outside the state, I think generally the election is a peaceful and orderly one."

He however said there were loopholes that should be corrected in future elections.

Osoba, regretted the low turnout, saying "turnout is dangerously and terribly poor.

He noted that the development is a sign of rejection of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) by the people.

On the general low turnout, Amosun said:

"This low turnout will not happen again. We will hit the road from Monday, carrying out door-to-door campaign,"

saying that INEC has conducted a acceptable polls.
