Governor Dankwambo assures Gombe pensioners.

Governor Dankwambo1                        Pensioners in Gombe State have been assured by the Governor Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo's administration, that their plight will be addressed within available resources.

The Gombe State Head of Service, Mr. Eli M Akeme who represented the Governor at pension day celebration in Gombe, has declared.

He stressed the administration's awareness of the pensioners' problem including non-increase in pensions in spite of frequent inflation in the country.

A university don in the Federal University, Kashere, Prof. Saleh Audu appealed to the State government to enlighten its civil servants on the new pension reforms so as to guarantee their future when they retire from service.  He further urged government at all levels to intensify the war against corruption.

In his remark, the state's chairman of the Nigerian Union of Pensioners, Alhaji Mahdi Magaji Doho appealed to the State Governor to consider the union while allocating seats to the public to perform their religious obligations; increase in monthly pension and reverse of bank payment, for those earning below ten thousand naira, to table paymen,t so as to alleviate their sufferings,

It could be recalled before the present democratic dispensation, preceding administration had successively instituted legal instruments, measures and policies designed to combat corruption in pension administration in the country.
