Cross River State Govt commended on road construction in Biase.

The member representing Biase in the State Constituency of Cross River State, Hon. Ngim Kanu Okpo has commended the State Government for the ongoing work on the roads in Biase Local Government Area.

Whilst making particular reference to Agwagune-Abini road, now completed, Asagu-Biakpan road, Etono Central, Abanwan-Ikun with spur at Etono Central and Ekpri-Iko roads, Hon. Ngim said when completed, economic activities in the areas will be greatly boosted.

Hon. Ngim who was speaking in an interview, appealed to the Government and other related Agencies to also intervene in Ikot Okpora- Aro  Chukwu road, Biakpan-Ukwa road, Ikot Ana- Igbofia, Abawan Afono and Urugbam-Ibini roads stating that these roads are in total state of disrepairs and are greatly hindering transportation of agricultural products.

He commended the efforts of the Commissioner representing the State in the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Rt. Hon Dominic Aqua Edem saying his push on the job has indeed hastened the pace and handled the challenges earlier associated with it.

He expressed the hope that in no distant time when the roads are completed the entire Biase LGA and its neighbours will be able to carry out business activities faster and will also translate to the growth and development of the State.

The member expressed gratitude to the State Government for the different approaches it has put in place to ensure that the hinterland also enjoy social amenities and noted that the State's poor financial standing has not deterred its effort of forging ahead to make life more meaningful to the people.

He, however, appealed to the Government to look at areas that require special interventions like the Ikot Okpora axis where, he explained, could be accessed within 30 minutes if the road was good but because of the terrain one has to use almost one day to get to that community.

According to him, the very essence of good road network is to make life meaningful and improve the economy of the State.  He expressed regrets that many of his people have died because they did not have access to medical facilities which Government has provided in the area due to lack of good roads.
