Osun rehabilitates railway station with N1.5bn

Osun State government yesterday said it has spent N1.5billion on the rehabilitation of the Osogbo Railway Station to meet the status of a modern station.

Revealing this to journalists in Osogbo at the weekend was the Special Adviser to Governor Rauf Aregbesola on Works and Transport, Engineer Oladepo Amudah while on inspection to the yet to be completed rehabilitation works in the station.

The special adviser, who pointed out that the present administration in the state would do all it could to make the station a second to none, added that work would not stop until it is completed.

"Governor Aregebsola embarked on the rehabilitation work due to its commitment to rejuvenate the terminus to become one of the best in Nigeria and the first phase of the rehabilitation work has reached 40 percent completion while the second phase is presently at 60 percent.

"The station is now wearing a new look with facilities such as a modern day police post, asphaltic overlaying of 45mm and 30mm thickness and marking of the railway terminus which is meant to improve the socio-economic development of the state capital."

He also stressed that by November this year, the completion of the recreation centre would have been achieved while all other befitting amenities would also have been put in place.
