Abia State Governor, Theodore Orji, yesterday enumerated the achievement of his administration in the last two years, saying that they have been able to bring the state out of darkness and led the people into real democracy.

The governor spoke yesterday at the Umuahia Township Stadium in an interdenominational church service held to mark this year's Democracy Day anniversary in the state.

According to Governor Orji, before his administration, what obtained in the state was "government of one family by one family," saying that he has changed that to "government of the people for the people by the people," which he said represents true democracy.

"We have moved Abia State nearer to God; we have been able to move Abia out of darkness. It is an achievement. There was no democracy before now, it was just 'government of family by one family,' we have stopped that and now we have democracy where consultation is done before things are concluded", Orji said.

The governor said that his administration has laid a good foundation for the development of the state, saying that before now there was none.
