Bauchi farmers get high yield soya, groundnut seeds

Governor Isa Yuguda of Bauchi state is to mobilize 12,000 farmers associations while 8,000 are to benefit from improved varieties of groundnut and soya beans seeds at subsidized rates, to enhance agricultural activities and food production in the state.

The co-coordinator farmer's capital enhancement project through the Bauchi state agricultural development project (BSADP), Lawan Shirama, made the declaration while briefing newsmen in Bauchi yesterday BSADP has put in place appropriate strategies to set the pace in achieving the programme.

Shirama added that already memorandum of understanding have been signed with the Central Bank of Nigeria, Bank of Agriculture and marketers associations Abubakar Tafawa-Balewa Bauchi including other agencies to mobilize resources to ensure the implementation of farmers capital enhancement project.

He noted that already government had procured 40,000 tones of soya beans for sale to farmers including recruitment of competent hands to train farmers saying BSADP had also refurbish 2 essential vehicles to enhance extension activities.
