A Taraba state High Court has granted an injunction restraining the National Secretariat of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) from carrying out any action pertaining the health status of Governor Danbaba Suntai.

This followed an exparte motion filed in by two members of the party in the state, Garba Julde from Sardauna local government and Sale Audu Habu from Takum local government.

Granting the injunction, Justice Nuhu Adi, also restrained the PDP from acting on the terms of reference given to a seven-man committee set up by the party in relation to the performance of the functions of the office of the Governor of Taraba state by the Acting Governor, pending the determination of the motion before the court.

Adi also restrained the committee from submitting any report to PDP and stopped the party from receiving or implementing any report submitted to it by the committee if it relates to the absence from office of the Governor Danbaba Suntai, pending the determination of the motion on the matter in the court.

Adi said the exparte injunction was necessitated by the time frame and urgency within which the committee set up by the PDP is to submit its reports.

During the ruling, the plaintiffs were in the court while the first defendant, the PDP and the seven members of the committee who are co-defendants were absent.

Speaking shortly after the court injunction, counsel to the plaintiffs Ibrahim Effiong, described the ruling as the best in recent times, saying that the PDP has no constitutional right to act on the matter.
