The House of Representatives Public Accounts Committee yesterday summoned the Ministry of Water Resources and River Basin Development Authorities over the abandonment of projects across the country.

The committee said the abandonment of contracts by the ministry and the various River Basin Development Authorities across the country must be accounted for.

The committee's chairman, Hon. Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, issued the summons in Abuja when the management of the Upper Benue River Basin Development Authority, Yola, led by its Managing Director, Mr. Suleiman Naibi Musa, appeared before the committee following the queries raised by the Office of the Auditor General of the Federation (AGF) on three separate contracts totaling over N767.7 million.

Adeola claimed that most of the River Basin Development Authorities have had several queries issued against them since 2003 following their alleged abandonment of projects and diversion of public funds.
