flood plateau                        The Plateau State Government has directed the immediate relocation of victims of last year's flood disaster in the state to higher grounds in order to avoid similar situation, as the rainy season peaks, this year.

This directive was given recently by the State Deputy Governor, Mr. Ignatius Longjan, who double as Chairman of Governing Council of the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), while on familiarization tour of the areas affected by the disaster, to monitor the ongoing distribution of relief materials to the victims as well as inspect some bridges washed away by the flood in some parts of central and southern zones of the State.

According to Mr. Longjan, "the measure was necessary because some people were still living in the flood prone areas in spite of its hazardous consequences.''

He however, commended the authorities of Langtang North Local Government for securing land for the relocation of flood victims in the areas as he directed the relocation of Lalin community of Mikang Local Government to a safer zone.
