Super Eagles midfielder Ogenyi Onazi has been ruled out of the FIFA Confederations Cup which kicks off on Saturday June 15 in Brazil due to injury, Completesportsnigeria.com can report.

The Lazio player who was in action for Nigeria team that was held to a 1-1 draw by Namibia on Wednesday in Windhoek, sustained the injury during the game and had to be replaced by John Ogu in the second half.

According to the media officer of the Nigeria Football Federation Demola Olajire, the injury is a serious one and the former U-17 and U-20 star's place will be taken by either Obinna Nwachukwu or Kunle Odunlami, who have been with the team since the start of camping Ahmed the FIFA Confederations Cup.

"Due to the injury Onazi sustained in the game against Namibia, he has been ruled out of the squad that will be playing in the Confederations Cup. It is a serious injury he sustained, so the coaching crew have decided to replace him with either Obinna Nwachukwu or Kunle Odunlami," Olajire stated.
