Comptroller General of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), David Parradang, has said that the service will henceforth take stringent measures against illegal immigrants.

Parradang who made this submission yesterday in Abuja, said that only investors and tourists with genuine programmes that will better the lots and growth of Nigeria would be allowed.

He said that the level of insecurity in the country has made it necessary for the service to effectively secure the country's border.

According to him, "as a service, we will provide a conducive environment for genuine investors and tourists.

"Those who will add value to Nigeria will be welcomed gladly but those with negative influence will not find rest till this country is rid of terrorist."

Parradang warned that indiscipline, corruption and marginalization that had enveloped the service in recent past will not be condoned.

"I would rather be removed today than allow any officer extort the innocent masses who come to us for help.

"I would rather be removed than allow the collection of toll gate and encouragement of god-fatherism and tribalism," he said.

He announced plans to carry out an internal swap of officers to various departments at the national headquarters even as he ordered the immediate transfer of all junior officers to border states.
