[attachimg=1 align=left] The Young Humanistas Network, Ibadan is pleased to announce its year 2011 international conference to commemorate the 2011 International Year of People of African Descents, aimed at strengthening national actions and regional and international cooperation for the benefit of people of African descent in relation to their full enjoyment of economic, cultural, social, civil and political rights, among others.

The theme of the conference is: "Culture and Rights 'Infringing' Practices in Africa and among Peoples of African Descents"

Sub-themes shall include but not limited to:
• Witch-hunting and stigmatization
• Mourning weeds/Widowhood rites
• FGM
• Bride inheritance
• Forced marriage
• Polygamy
• Initiation ceremonies
• Marriage at young age
• Patriarchy
• Property grabbing
• Son preference
• Child abandonment
• Among others!

Date: 23 -24 September, 2011
Venue: University of Ibadan, Ibadan, Nigeria
Time: 10:00am - 5pm daily

Students and unemployed: N500
Paper presenters: N1500 plus N5000 (for assessment and publication)
