Former Nigerian manager, Christian Chukwu is confident Super Eagles will survive the scare of their Uruguayan opponents, La Celeste in Thursday's second group game at the ongoing 2013 Fifa Confederation Cup in Brazil.
.
Eagles earned a decent 6-1 win against the Oceania champions, Tahiti on Monday to take command of Group B against their South American foes who lost 1-2 to European and world champions, Spain to occupy the third spot on the log going into Thursday's encounter at the Arena Fonte Nova in city of Salvador.
.
Chukwu said the South American champions are beatable given their non-convincing performance against Spain in their opening group game.
.
"I strongly believe Eagles can beat Uruguay on Thursday. Uruguay were not convincing in their game against Spain so I see Eagles grabbing the vital points that will ensure passage to the semifinals stage.
.
"I've confidence in the Eagles to show class and rise to the occasion when the stake is very high. Tahiti were really not in same class with the Nigerians and that explained the average performance we saw in the Eagles but against a highly rated side like Uruguay you will see an entirely different side.
.
"Definitely, they would've plugged those loose ends that saw them missed begging chances against Tahiti, the complacency witnessed in the first game will surely not surface against Uruguay," said the former Nigerian defender
.
Chukwu played down the larger than life status painted of the Uruguayan striker, Luis Suarez insisting that Eagles have in abundance his equal.
.
"Nigerians are unnecessarily worried of Suarez but will do everything to underscore their own players and nobody has taken time off to pick and celebrate the likes of Nnamdi Oduamadi, John Mikel Obi among others.
.
"Suarez is stoppable same as the entire Uruguayan side, Eagles have demonstrated their capability against the Catalonian side, Mexico and will certainly handle the South Americans come Thursday.
.
"It's a match of equal unlike the first game against Tahiti and Eagles will give their best and get the result that'll see them through to the last four," said the former Green Eagles captain.
.
Eagles will clash with Spain's Furia Roja (Red Fury) on Sunday at the Estadio Castelao in Fortaleza in the last Group B game. The top two teams will progress to the semifinals stage of the continental football showpiece.

Going by the way they played against Tahiti, I do not think they would be able to win the game tonight.
