Maersk Nigeria Ltd. is an agent for Maersk Line which is a part of the A.P. Moller-Maersk Group. It's presence in Nigeria spans 25 years with a market share of 32% (January 2013), Maersk Nigeria is represented in Lagos, Port Harcourt, and Kano and oversees the business activities in Togo, Benin Republic, Ghana and Niger as the mother country for the Central West Africa cluster.

This is a generalist position that offers great opportunity to be part of a small, yet very competitive team looking after Operations in various Nigerian and cluster wide ports.

We Offer: We offer the opportunity to work in a team where results orientation is key. As an Operations Executive, you will receive hands-on training in various sections of Operations and be groomed towards a key job role within the Operations department.

Key Responsibilities:

Successful candidate would be on a sequential job rotation in the Operations department. Rotation would be in the following order;

1. Marine & Terminal Operation;

1. Assist the Mariner and Terminal Operations manager in adequately managing all areas within the Marine and Terminal Operations department:

a. Internally in terms of proper planning of operational tasks and implementing and continuously refining and updating procedures to improve overall efficiency and profitability for the Line.

b. Externally in terms of stakeholder management with service providers and authorities; maintain a dialogue with main suppliers and authorities in area of responsibility on general and principal marine and terminal Operations.

2. Monitoring set performance measures for external vendor deliverables and follow up on performance.

3. Assist the Mariner and Terminal Operations manager in conducting regular ports/terminals performance review to ensure that contractual productivity targets are met.

4. Ensure visibility on performance management for all relevant KPIs for CWAOPS.

2. Equipment, Intermodal & EMR;

1. Assist the Equipment, Intermodal & EMR Manager in overall supervision of Equipment Management and Intermodal Operations within CWA cluster (comprising Nigeria, Benin, Togo, Ghana, and Niger).

2. Assist daughter countries in equipment flows, dwell-time and turn-time management including timely evacuation and securing of required space allocation.

3. Assist the Equipment, Intermodal & EMR Manager in conducting regular ports/terminals and ICDs related infrastructural capacity reviews to ensure that the Line takes proactive actions to avoid any bottlenecks. This should include keeping an eye on the dwell time of import cargo within the cluster.

4. Ensure visibility on performance management for all relevant KPIs for CWAOPS.

3. Cost Control & Economy;

1. Assist Operations Cost Controller CWA in optimizing existing operational processes with particular focus on reducing cost and increasing productivity and efficiency.

2. To assist in ensuring compliance to various contracts and service level agreements in terms of costs to the line, operational efficiencies, volume rebates / discounts, productivity incentives and any penalties arising out of non-compliance.

3. To assist in ensuring all required statistics are captured throughout the year and are available to monitor performance of suppliers to effectively monitor their performance and compliance to various service level agreements.

4. Assist Operations Cost Controller CWA in ensuring NOPS accuracy for CWA Cluster by proactively identifying estimation issues and taking measures towards timely resolution

4 Projects;

1. Create and deliver project work plans and revise as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirements.

2. Monitor day-to-day operational aspects of the project(s).

3. Ensure project documents are complete, current, and appropriately stored.

4. Work closely with relevant stake holders to ensure effective and efficient implementation of the project(s).

5. Align projects to business goals, managing stakeholders, and communicating project status, milestones, and unexpected difficulties effectively.

6. Any other function as assigned: Upon completion of rotation, the incumbent shall become part of Operations team within any of the above teams depending on requirements and aptitude.

Who we are looking for?

1. Minimum Bachelor's Degree in Economics, Finance or Business related course

2. 2-3 years work experience.

3. Knowledge of shipping industry would be an added advantage.

4. Detail oriented individual with excellent analytical skills.

5. Possess good communication and interpersonal skills.

6. Strong team player while taking responsibility for own performance.

7. Strong MS Office Suite skills.
