When released, the two billion naira housing loan which the Ogun State Government intends to access from the Federal Mortgage Bank will be used to build affordable housing units of various sizes across the three Senatorial districts for the benefit of the people.

Commissioner for Housing, Mr. Daniel Adejobi who dropped this hint in Abeokuta during a media chat indicated that the State Government intends to collaborate with the Federal Government to address problem of housing deficit in the country. Adejobi pointed out that the fund to be accessed through the Gateway Savings and Loans limited would be released in trenches, explaining that all workers and contributors to the National Housing Fund would be eligible.

“We already have drawings according to the specifications of the Federal Mortgage bank to which the State Housing Corporation is serving as the developer” the Commissioner pointed out.

He noted that forms and questionnaires already filled by residents would be revisited for the allocation, assuring that those that were not able to fill the forms for whatever reason then, but qualified as contributors to the housing scheme would benefit saying “the housing project is a revolving one, if you don’t get now, you will definitely get as we shall continue to build more”.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner has called on owners of all undeveloped landed properties in the various housing estates in the State including Ibara, Kemta, Laderin, Ikenne and others to commence immediate construction, warning that government would take possession of such lands if nothing is done within the next 30 days.
