Serious political consultations have begun in the South-East geopolitical zone to find a replacement for the immediate past National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, Chief Olisa Metuh.

Metuh resigned on Thursday after the national leadership of the party asked all national officers of the PDP, whose elections were irregular to go.

Although Metuh has not given an indication that he would like to return to post, stakeholders in the South-East and Anambra State, where the post of National Publicity Secretary of the PDP was zoned, are not just waiting.

They have begun to canvass for a candidate to fill the void left by Metuh.

One of the names being touted to replace Metuh is that of Chief Okey Muo-Aroh, a former Chairman of ALGON in Anambra State.

A founding father of the party in the state, Chief Nnadubem Nwakwesi from Nnewi, who addressed journalists in Awka on Friday after a stakeholders' meeting, said Metuh failed to live up to the expectation of party faithful in the South-East.

He stated that the former publicity secretary could not match his counterpart in the opposition Action Congress of Nigeria, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, who, he said "was constantly on top of his game."

"Metuh is no match for Lai Mohammed, who has become the hallmark of political opposition in contemporary Nigerian political history. He has made a Lilliputian out of Metuh.

"South-East has budding fire-brand public relations experts, who could dictate the pace for other parties to follow," Nwakwesi said.

He named Muo-Aroh and Chief Chike Udenze as such good and able materials, who are constantly ready to work.

Muo-Aroh and Udenze incidentally ran against Metuh in the last convention, but were prevailed upon to withdraw as the South-East caucus settled for Metuh.

However, several calls made to Metuh's phone to respond to the development in the zone were picked by an aide, who said Metuh would call as soon as he was free.
