The management, staff and students of Afe Babalola University, Ado-Ekiti, ABUAD, were at the weekend, excited over the full accreditation recorded for the university's 12 courses by the National Universities Commission, NUC.

According to a release made available to National Mirror by the Director of Public Affairs of the university, Mr. Tunde Olofintila, the courses include: Accounting, Banking and Finance, Business Administration, Anatomy, Physiology, Law, Biochemistry, Human Biology, Microbiology.

Others are Economics, Media and Communication Studies, as well as Tourism and Events Management.

Two courses out of the 14 presented were given interim accreditation, they are Computer Science and Nutrition and Dietetics.

For this achievement, the university community was thrown into jubilation as they considered the development a very rare one, bearing in mind that it happened within less than four years of the university's establishment.

Expressing happiness over the development, the Founder and Chancellor of the university, Aare Afe Babalola, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, said many universities could be running most of their programmes with interim accreditation, but for ABUAD, the school has secured full accreditation for 12 courses, representing 85 per cent of its entire programmes.

Disclosing that the university is making frantic effort to ensure that the other two are also granted full accreditation statuses, Aare Babalola restated his commitment not only to provide a world class university, but also to produce well-groomed graduates that will be globally competitive.
