Ogenyi Onazi Replaces Iorfa At Lobi Stars

Experienced tactician, Evans Ogenyi, has been confirmed as Lobi Stars chief coach, returning for a third stint in charge at the Glo Premier League side to replace former Nigerian forward and club vice- chairman, Dominic Iorfa, who served as technical director.

Lobi lost 3-4 to Bayelsa United at home on Matchday 21 and are placed 17th on the log.

Iorfa told supersport.com that the decision to bring Ogenyi is to enable him concentrate on his duties in the boardroom.

"Managing the club requires a lot. Ogenyi's arrival will give me more time to focus on rebranding the club.
.
"I've been able to build the best youth structure for Lobi Stars within a short time and the club has attracted international recognition. As you know, we're heading for an invitation tournament in Libya.

"I need to do more to boost the club's brand profile," Iorfa said.

Ogenyi, who is not new to the Premier League expressed readiness to face the challenge at the 1999 Nigerian champions.

"I feel honoured to return to Lobi Stars. It's a club I know very well and it's my third time in charge," Ogenyi said.

The former Ocean Boys and Nasarawa United manager, who was formally introduced to the team on Tuesday, will conduct his first training session on Wednesday.

In 2008, Ogenyi won the Coca-Cola FA Cup (now Federation Cup) with Ocean Boys and assisted Okey Emordi in 2010, when Enyimba reached the semifinals of the Caf Champions League.

Although, Iorfa has left the club's dug-out, the former Queens Park Rangers and Galatasaray forward will be remembered for his role as Lobi finished third on the log last term and lost the Cup final 1-2 to Heartland.
