Nasarawa State Governor Umaru Tanko Al-Makura has donated 13 vehicles to security agencies in the state to replace those destroyed during the Ombatse killings of some policemen at Alakyo village on May 7, 2013.

While donating the vehicles to the security agents at the Government House in Lafia, the state capital, Al-Makura said his administration would not rest on its oar to continue supporting the security logistically, materially and morally.

He said: "This appreciation is only a token of what is in the minds of this government and every citizen of Nasarawa State. The security agents have brought their expertise, sense of duty and that of patriotism to bear on the state. That has made life comfortably, easy and safe for the entire citizenry."

The governor, however, appealed to the security personnel not to be discouraged of the killings of their colleagues at Alakyo as Nigerian would continue to support them.

Al-Makura said: "And I urge you not to relent in your efforts. We are with you and with the support of each and every citizen of the state, while we intend to make security a business of everybody, we shall all put our hands on deck to support and encourage you and also make our utmost contribution to make our society crime-free."

Receiving the keys of the vehicles, the state Commissioner of Police, Umar Shehu, thanked the governor for the gesture and promised that security operatives would not hesitate to discharge their duties professionally.

Of the 13 Hilux van, 11 were given to the police and the other two were given to the State Security Service (SSS).
