Federal Commissioner, National Population Commission in Bayelsa State Engr. Austen Pabor, yesterday, expressed concern over the tagging of Bayelsa State as a state of "aging population."
.
Pabor in an interview in Yenagoa during 2013 World Population Day, lamented Bayelsa State's situation, which currently has the least birth registration figure in the country compared to other states.
.
He said: "It is worthy to note that presently, Bayelsa State has the least birth registration figure in the whole of the country.
.
"The situation is very pathetic when every other state is recording 20 times the figure of Bayelsa State, which is now regarded as an aging population."
.
He decried the current situation where the state has only 26 registration centres for its 105 wards, a development he described as grossly inadequate.
