Ex-International believes Fernerbahce defender can still help Nigeria defence Ex-international, Ben Iroha, believes that Fernerbahce of Turkey stalwart and Super Eagles captain Joseph Yobo still has a role to play in the senior national team.
.
The former Everton man is yet to play for the Eagles since the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations where he was fielded sparingly by Coach Stephen Keshi.
.
However as attention shifts to the 2014 World Cup qualifier against the Flames of Malawi in September, Iroha, while admitting that he was happy. with the form and promise shown by emerging defenders in recent games, insists that the team still need the experience of Yobo, at least ahead of the next World Cup.
.
"I'm very happy with the form and promise shown by the emerging players in Joseph Yobo's position.
.
However, it will be wrong to assume that Yobo is not needed in the team. His experience and leadership qualities are vital when the Eagles play high profile games. We need his experience in big games for now, even up to next year's World Cup at least."
.
"What I always say is that we have quite a lot of very good players and it doesn't mean whether a player is home-based or foreign-based. At no particular time should we complain of not having enough cover when one or two players are missing."
.
Iroha added that the Eagles coach's decision to put faith in young defenders has paid dividends in recent times.

Joseph Yobo would do very well if he's still given a chance to play for the Super Eagles of Nigeria. He is still a fantastic captain.
