I won’t tolerate graft, other vices, says new Gombe governor

 THE newly-sworn-in Gombe State Governor Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo has said that he would not tolerate imprudence, misuse of funds or corrupt practices in whatever form.

Dankwambo, who disclosed this while addressing the people at Pantami Township Stadium during his swearing-in yesterday, said that he would take adequate stock of the state situation within the next four weeks and come out to the people the position of things.

The governor said that he would deploy God-given visionary leadership talents to make the state greater than what it is now in God's willing and within the resources available.

He further said that education was on top of his administration

priorities at all levels and would receive a boost to enable them produce good result and the much needed manpower to move the state forward. He added that he would strive to ensure that problems associated with the education sector were addressed with the seriousness they deserve.

Also speaking, the former governor, Alhaji Muhammad Danjuma Goje, said that with all his effort not to hand over the government with any outstanding loans, he was forced to secure some facilities for about N5 billion to complete ongoing projects.

He said that his government had started repayment.

"Now, there is an outstanding amount of about N4 billion that is yet to be paid, therefore, I could not live up to my promise of exiting without any outstanding loans because of this very ugly situation we found ourselves in", he added.
