Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC) is the pioneer and leader of the petroleum industry in Nigeria.

Responsibilities:  – The Principal Process Engineer will be responsible for creating Process Engineering deliverables for deepwater Projects and ensuring timely completion to the required quality standards. – She / He will work in a multidiscipline team and lead process engineering in all phases of project (concept to handover).  – Prepare and review deliverables identified for the project as well as present process engineering project deliverables to the project and stakeholders.  – He/She will also supervise and coach young process engineers in the team.  – The Principal Process Engineer has responsibility to advise requirements (resource,schedule,cots e.t.c.) for the design of the process systems and deliver on schedule.  – There will also be requirements to support existing asset on a need basis.

In particular,the Principal Process Engineer's accountabilities include:  – Prepares process flow diagrams,material and heat balances,and lists of major equipment.  – Designs P&IDs,prepares and issues instrument,equipment,heat exchange and rotating equipment data sheets.  – Prepares and issues line summaries. Establish utility requirements,prepares utility summaries and designs utility P&IDs.  – Conducts process and equipment optimization and process evaluation studies.  – Conducts safety and hazard assessments for process systems. Checks calculations performed by other engineers and according to the project instructions.  – Selects computer software,and prepares complex computer calculations. Verifies computer simulation results.  – Provides assistance to other engineering disciplines as required in the preparation of equipment and instrumentation specifications,plot plans,and general arrangement drawings.  – Assists in the preparation of operating and training manuals.  – Directs the activities,provides input and technical guidance to CAD designers and drafters and to lower level process engineers.  – Participates in customer and internal review meetings. Interprets internal and external business challenges with impact on the organization and recommends best practice solutions.

Requirements:  – A recognized Bachelors degree in Process or Chemical Engineering with minimum of 12 – 15 years of relevant experience covering all aspects of process engineering. 8 of which must be in the oil/gas industry, preferably the offshore environment.  – Good knowledge of related disciplines, e.g. control and automation, mechanical etc. – Ability to work effectively in teams.  – Strong analytical and problem solving skills.  – Proficient with relevant engineering software applications. e.g. Developing process plant simulation models using Unisim, and pipeline simulations using Pipesim process tools. Models cover facilities from wellhead to export destination. Also includes skill in fluid characterization using PVTSim or Unisim. – Ability to Develop / design process plant schemes alternatives, and carrying out technical screening of options; FEED level skill in developing process control and safeguarding schemes for process plants including PSFS and safeguarding memoranda/ Process plant optimization and troubleshooting  – Awareness of project estimates and budgets.  – Ability to transfer subject matter expertise and understanding to other employees and/or internal customers is required.  – Should be generally characterized as a "Senior Contributor" with ability to lead functional project teams within the department.  – Very rarely requires supervision
