Stephen Keshi To Quit If Malawi Win

Stephen Keshi says he will quit as head coach of the Nigeria national team if the Super Eagles lose to Malawi in September's 2014 Fifa World Cup qualifying game in Calabar.

The African champions are currently at the summit of Group F of Africa zone World Cup qualifying.

A loss for the Super Eagles in the game against the Flames from Malawi will effectively end Nigeria's chances of qualifying for the 2014 Fifa World Cup in Brazil - a situation which Keshi says will make his position in the team untenable.

"Sure, I will quit if we lose against Malawi. I will quit especially if it will make Nigeria to perform a whole lot better," Keshi said.

The Big Boss then said it would not represent "the end of the world" if he is no longer coach of the Super Eagles.

"It will not be the end of the world if I am no longer coach of the Super Eagles.

"There are lots of countries that are looking for coaches so leaving the Nigeria job is not a big deal.

"I came from somewhere so it's not like I want to be coach of the Super Eagles for the rest of my life.

"It's a privilege to be coach of the Super Eagles but it does not mean that my life will end if I am no longer head coach," he said.

Keshi replaced Samson Siasia as head coach of the Nigeria national team in November 2011 after the latter failed to steer the side to a place at the finals of the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations co-hosted by Gabon and Equatorial Guinea.

l am 100% sure that Nigeria will not lose at home to Malawi, come September. The worse would be a draw.

Taking pride out of it, Malawi is kind of country Nigeria would beat anytime anyday when it comes to football. I agree with Keshi....
