The Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Buka Goni Aji has revealed the plan of his office to engage a Peer Review Mechanism for Permanent Secretaries in the Federal Civil Service, commencing with the Ecological Fund Office and the Federal Ministry of Works on Thursday August 15, 2013.

He disclosed this at the end of the monthly meeting of Permanent Secretaries held in Abuja recently; saying the process will involve Permanent Secretaries in the evaluation of one another's performance for assurance of quality in service delivery. "Presentations will be made by all Permanent Secretaries on the broad areas regarding their responsibilities and challenges in their assigned ministries as well as interactive sessions for review by them", he said.

Buka Goni Aji indicated that the review team will be expected to make immediate assessment of the premises and facilities and interact with the Directors and executive members of the Joint Staff Union to assess progress and areas of challenges in the Ministry being reviewed.

According to him, the strategy is part of the efforts to reposition the Federal Civil Service and evolve a well-motivated, professional and ethical workforce. He noted that the programme is expected to enhance ethical conduct and uplift management functions.
