Nigeria's President, Goodluck Jonathan in Abuja recently has said that Nigeria and Thailand would benefit from each other's development experiences.   The remark was made when he received in audience a Special Envoy of the Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Thailand, Surapong Tovichakchaikul. The President expressed delight that the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of both countries are already exploring areas of co-operation beyond rice importation and oil export to deepen bilateral ties.   He also espoused hope that Thailand would become a key partner as Nigeria intensifies efforts to develop the agricultural sector with emphasis on rice production. Adding, exchange of trade delegations between the two countries is a way of boosting economic relations and fostering cooperation between Thailand and Nigerian investors, particularly in agriculture and the solid minerals sectors.   "Nigeria will continue to co-operate with Thailand to make sure that our countries improve economically," President Jonathan disclosed.   Speaking earlier, the Special Envoy who is Thailand's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs congratulated President Jonathan for the achievements of his government in the past two years. He identified the achievements to include: transportation, electoral reform, education, gender equality and diversification of the economy.   Surapong Tovichakchaikul also informed President Jonathan of the intention of the Thai Government to host a Thai-African Initiative in February 2014 to promote trade relations with African countries.
