Martins Voted MLS Player Of The Week

Veteran Super Eagles forward,Obafemi Martins has been voted Major League Soccer's player of the week by the North American Soccer Reporters (NASR) for week 29 of the 2013 MLS season after the Nigerian returned to scoring form at the weekend.

Martins chipped in goal and an assist as Seattle Sounders hammered Real Salt Lake 2-0 to overtake first place in the Western Conference of the league.

The former Inter Milan of Italy man set the tone with the opener just three minutes in before helping setting up Lamar Neagle's first-half insurance goal.

That showing earned him the vote as Week 29's MLS Player of the Week. Martins is the second Sounders player to nab the award this season, joining Week 12 winner and fellow striker Eddie Johnson.

The MLS Player of the Week is selected each week of the regular season by a panel of journalists from NASR. The group consists of members of print, television, radio and online media.
