Liverpool defender, Tiago Ilori, is determined to build on his first appearance in Liverpool colours and show supporters further evidence of his abilities.
.
Ilori, who is born of an English father with Nigerian descent, made his debut for Liverpool's under-21s against Sunderland on Tuesday at Anfield.
.
The 20-year-old is now keen to make a big splash for the Reds this season following his move from Sporting Lisbon on transfer deadline day alongside Mamadou Sakho and Victor Moses.
.
"I loved playing in the game and it was a great win," he told the Liverpool official website, liverpoolfc.com.
.
Ilori will be looking to get his chance in the first team but knows it will not be easy given the glut of riches available to the Liverpool manager, Brendan Rodgers.
.
"I hope I can carry on winning at Anfield. Every player wants to play whether it's in the first team or the reserves.
.
"I want to get as many minutes as I can. I didn't have a proper pre-season due to injuring my hand but it's good to be back and fit now. I'm enjoying it here. Brendan Rodgers seems like a great guy and a great coach. I will do my best for the club.
.
"This is the best league in the world and it has always been a dream of mine to come and play here.
.
"It's never easy leaving the country you grew up in but it wasn't that difficult because I knew I was doing what I wanted to do,' he said.
.
Ilori, whose middle name is Abiola, is one of the many Europeans with Nigerian descent doing brilliantly in the top football leagues across the old continent.
.
Others include Jordon Ibe, Chuba Akpom, Chuks Aneke, Leo Aderemi-Balogun and Derik Osede-Prieto.
