Golden Eaglets on Saturday signed off brilliantly their title account at the ongoing Fifa Under-17 World Cup in the United Arab Emirates hitting title holders, Mexico 6-1 at the Khalifa Bin Zayed Stadium, Al- Ain.

The three-time world champions took just minutes to size up the North American opponents kicking wrongly few chances at goal.

But the seemingly respect whittled down almost immediately as Eaglets' magician, Kelechi Iheanacho scored the side opening goal off the run of play in the 33rd minute with Isaac Success assisting.

Undone with the impressive opening goal, Success puts Iheanacho on the counter finishing perfectly to record his side second goal in the 40th minute.

However, the ovations that greeted the goal lasted just a minute as Mexican forward, Ulises Jaimes squeezed through Eaglets' defenders to puts his side on the scorers' chart ending the first term on 2-1 in favour of Nigeria.

Eaglets grew in strength at the resumption of play as rampaging Iheanacho found the back of the Mexican net in the 49th minute to grab his third goal of the match while defender, Chidiebere Nwakali thundered a powerful shot outside the box that beat hapless Mexican goalkeeper for Nigeria's fourth goal in the 52nd minute.

Success' attempts to add his own name on the scorers' chart were unsuccessful as his shots went wide at each effort but he kept knocking and was rewarded in the 60th minute when he drilled a shot pass the opponents' defenders that cut bewildered Mexican goalkeeper napping.

Eaglets continued their impressive push for more goals with Iheanacho grabbing the headline scoring his fourth individual goal in a largely one-sided match.

Coach Manu Garba brought in Taiwo Awoniyi, Habib Makajuaola to keep the pressure on the Mexicans but it appeared his wards have done the job perfectly well as the Norwegian referee, Svein Oddvar Moen blew off the match to save the Mexicans further punishment.

Eaglets will face Sweden in the next group game on Tuesday in Al-Ain before rounding off the group campaign on Thursday against Iraq in Dubai where they hope to continue their 90 minute non stop assault.
