 It was backslapping and commendation galore today for Mrs. Modupe Adekunle, the Ogun State Head of Service as she was conferred with the Gold Merit Award of the Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria (ASCSN).     At the ceremony held at the DLK events centre, Abeokuta and attended by dignitaries from all walks, including the State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, Mrs. Adekunle was described as a hardworking, selfless and reliable civil servant who deserves the honour and others that had been bestowed on her in the past.     To Governor Amosun, Mrs. Adekunle is a hardworking, passionate and dedicated aide who should be showered with encomium and celebrated openly for her sterling qualities.     He said Mrs. Adekunle has devoted her all to the development of the State civil service, noting that her speed of accomplishing assignments is exemplary and a good example of the “Ogun standard”.     “Anybody that is for the truth and justice is a good comrade and Mrs. Adekunle is one. I say, well-done and congratulations. Many more of the awards will still come because it shows that when you work, it is not just overlooked, people will see it and recognize all the good work” Governor Amosun pointed out.     Earlier, the National President of the Association, Comrade Bobboi Kaigama said Mrs. Adekunle has over the years been a very strong pillar and rallying point for the association, adding that the award was just a token of the association’s appreciation.     He said the conferment is the first of its kind in the life of the Association, promising that it would continue to celebrate deserving members to motivate them to strive and achieve greater successes.      Responding, Mrs. Adekunle who was a one-time Vice President of the Association, expressed appreciation for the honour done her and dedicated the award to Governor Amosun who appointed her as the State Head of Service, a development which has positioned her for the honour.     Later in an interview, Mrs. Adekunle who was a notable unionist enjoined fellow union leaders to always carry out union activities with diligence, honesty and best intentions, saying union leaders should learn to do things properly and never give up fighting for the rights of their members.     On negotiations, she advised them to always see reasons with the opposite party and not just stick to an opinion.     “When it comes to negotiations, there are always two sides to it, so, they should always recognize that the other side too has its own views for trying to stick to an opinion, but then, there will always be that middle course where both parties will have to talk”, she advised.
