Efforts of the present administration in Ogun State in the past 29 months are being channeled towards restoring the State to its natural and enviable position among its peers in the country.     In this wise, the government will continue to implement relevant people-oriented programmes passionately, even in the face of the serious challenges of dwindling resources from the Federation Account.     The State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun gave this assurance today in Abeokuta at the town hall meeting on the State’s 2014 Budget, pointing out that the high level of understanding, support and cooperation given by the citizenry to achieving the “mission to rebuild” had been legendary.     “The mission to rebuild has actually been reinforced by the total support we have received so far despite the fact that in the course of implementing our programmes, policies and projects, some inconveniences have been experienced by our people. I want to assure all that we shall soon overcome all these initial pains” Amosun submitted.     Governor Amosun affirmed that in appreciation of this, his administration would continue to carry along all stakeholders in the implementation of its programmes, saying that the town hall meeting was another measure to ensure that all stakeholders are involved in drawing programmes, priorities and collectively articulate the development agenda for the next fiscal year.     He assured participants at the meeting that their contributions and suggestions would be put into consideration in the preparation of the budget, declaring that his administration was poised to consolidate on the achievements already recorded and would not leave any of its on-going projects uncompleted.     Soliciting for continued support and cooperation from the people, Governor Amosun also called for the sustenance of the peace and tranquility that had pervaded the State since the inception of his government, noting that no meaningful development could be achieved in a situation of chaos or distrust.     “We also need to ensure that the peace and tranquility we have been enjoying since the inception of our administration need to be sustained as no meaningful development can be achieved in a situation of chaos or distrust. We sincerely count on the continued understanding and cooperation of all” Amosun stated.     Earlier in her welcome address, Commissioner for Budget and Planning, Mrs. Oluwande Muoyo indicated that in its quest to ensure socio-economic transformation, government had recorded monumental achievements under its 5-cardinal programmes, submitting that the feat could not have been achieved without the support of the stakeholders.     According to her, remarkable achievements had been recorded in all sectors as government had provided transformers to enhance economic activities, free textbooks and instructional material to students in all primary and post-primary schools, just as the health care delivery system also received a boost with upgrading of facilities and recruitment of additional health care practitioners among other numerous achievements.     She said the 2013 budget was carefully packaged with inputs from various stakeholders, affirming that similar step was being taken for the next year’s budget as the town hall meeting was meant to compliment and further enhance the realization of the administration’s programmes and policies.     The meeting had in attendance varied stakeholders including traditional, political and religious leaders, representatives of trade associations, students, artisans, market women among others.
