Shola Ameobi starred for Newcastle United as they recorded a 2-0 win over visiting Chelsea at St. James Park on Saturday afternoon.

Ameobi started the game as he partnered Loic Remy in the Magpies attack, until he was taken off in the 62nd minute for Papiss Cisse, with the game still goalless in spite of several chances the 32-year-old created for the Yohan Gouffran and strike partner Loic Remy.

Goals from Gouffran and Remy in the 68th and 89th minutes eventually sealed the memorable home win for Newcastle.

John Mikel Obi was however an unused substitute for Chelsea, as Mourinho preferred to bring in the attacking trio of Samuel Eto'o, Willian and Andre Schurrle to improve his team's chances of scoring. Sammy Ameobi was also an unused substitute for Newcastle.

Mikel and Ameobi have done very well so far for their respective clubs but Newcastle was just better on the field of play this time!
