Oyo Assembly gets list of 12 commissioner-nominees for screening

Governor Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo State yesterday sent a list of 12 commissioner- nominees to the state House of Assembly for screening.

It will be recalled that the governor, on September 23, dissolved the executive council after a meeting that lasted less than 30 minutes.

The nominees include five of the commissioners dropped in the last cabinet dissolution and they are Mr. Adebayo Ojo, Mr. Dapo Lam-Adesina, Princess Adetutu Adeyemi Akhigbe, Dr. Muyiwa Gbadegesin and Mr. Zacheus Adelabu.

The new nominees are Prof. S.O Olaniyan, Princess Olufunke Oworu, Prince Gbade Lana, Mr. Faruk Umar Alao, Mr. Adewale Lawrence Olujide, Mr. Abiodun Fatai Atanda and Mr. Deji Akande.

The Speaker of the House, Hon. Monsurat Sunmonu, read the list of the nominees at the plenary sitting yesterday. She assured that the lawmakers would peruse the credential of the nominees, stating that there would be no "bow and go."

Sunmonu said the nominees would appear before the House for screening today by 10am, adding that they are expected to come along with 40 copies of their credentials.

The House approved tenure extension of six months for the 33 transition committee chairmen in the 33 local government areas of the state.
