JAMB: Five candidate die in road accident

Five candidates who were travelling on Saturday to write the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) died in an accident, which occurred on Ahoada-Abua road in Rivers State.

Newsmen gathered that the victims were travelling from Yenagoa, the Bayelsa State capital to their centres in Abua, Rivers State when the accident occurred.

The accident involved a Mazda car and a commercial motorcycle.

River State Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Commission, Mr. Osas Osadebanwen, confirmed the incident to newsmen.

"Five persons died in the accident, while about three persons were injured" Osadebanwen said.

He further blamed the accident on reckless driving.
