Rangers deny signing Pillars’ players

Enugu Rangers have denied signing Pillars' duo of goalkeeper Joel Afelokhai and midfielder Rabiu Ali ahead of the new season. Rangers' leadership has described as untrue and laughable the rumours linking the Pillars duo to the coal City Antelopes.

Media Officer Foster Chime told National Mirror that the said players had not set their feet on their training ground talk less of putting pen on paper for them this season.

"We have not seen these players and I can tell you categorically that we have not signed these players," Chime maintained.

"We have not even entered into negotiation with the said players and I'm shocked to hear that they're linked to us.

"The management of Rangers have to meet to deliberate on players they want and begin negotiation for signing them.

"I can tell you that there's no such thing yet. We have not signed any new player yet as we have started receiving the old players who have started arriving in preparation for the new season."

Meanwhile, Rangers' target, ABS striker, Ajibola Otegbeye, is currently training with Enugu Rangers ahead of the 2013/14 season. The striker was one of hundreds of players who trained in Enugu on Monday.

Otegbeye and six other players were later shortlisted by the coaches of Rangers with newly-appointed head coach, John Obuh, absent during the session.

The ABS man will continue to train with the Flying Antelopes on Tuesday.

"Ajibola Otegbeye is one of the players training with us ahead of the new season. He came into Enugu on Sunday and trained with us today (Monday).
