The Chairman, Civil Service Commission, Sir Brian Ekpong has expressed concern over the level of indiscipline among some civil servants in the State Government employ.

Sir Ekpong bared his mind when answering questions field by reporters during an interview held in his office in Calabar.

The Chairman who described indiscipline as a cankerworm capable of jeopardizing the smooth operation of the civil service system, noted that absenteeism, corruption and other forms of fraudulent practices are prevalent among some civil servants and pointed out that the Commission is poised at flushing out such acts from the Service.

In carrying out this, the Commission he stated, is always guided by due process by first receiving cases of indiscipline from any Ministry, Department and Agency (MDA), appraised the level of the complaint, give a fair hearing to the accused then arriving at a decision on the matter.

He however, made it clear that sanctioned civil servants are at liberty to appeal to the State Governor for reconsideration of their cases.

Meanwhile, according to Sir Ekpong, six civil servants caught in various acts of gross misconduct, have been placed on compulsory retirement from the Service while warning letters have equally been served to some insubordinate staff and lauded the Chief Executive of MDAs for the level of cooperation so far received from them in that direction.
